Tanzania & Zanzibar Safari

A private 4x4 Land Cruiser safari through Tarangire, Lake Manyara, the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater, followed by five nights of beach leisure at Nungwi on Zanzibar's north coast.

Day-wise itinerary

1. 01

   Day 1: Arusha Town

   Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, meet and greet briefing by your English-speaking driver and transfer to Arusha town for dinner and overnight at Kibo Palace Hotel (H/B).

   Meals: dinner.

2. 02

   Day 2: Tarangire National Park

   After breakfast, drive towards Tarangire National Park for game viewing. Spread over around 1,100 square miles in northern Tanzania's Manyara Region, Tarangire is among the best places in the region to spot elephants; other creatures frequently spotted include cheetahs, oryx and around 550 bird species. Hot lunch at Tarangire Safari Lodge, then continue the game drive. Dinner and overnight at Tarangire Simba Lodge (F/B).

   Meals: breakfast, lunch & dinner.

3. 03

   Day 3: Manyara National Park

   After breakfast, drive towards Manyara National Park for game viewing with packed lunch. Small but rich in wildlife, Lake Manyara lies in the Great Rift Valley and is renowned for populations of flamingos and pelicans, buffalo, zebras and all sorts of birds. The park protects Lake Manyara and its surrounding lands and is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Dinner and overnight at Mawe Mawe Manyara Lodge (F/B).

   Meals: breakfast, lunch & dinner.

4. 04

   Day 4: Serengeti National Park

   After breakfast with packed lunch, drive towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area — a collapsed volcano stretching across 102 miles, home to lions, rhino, hippo, hyena and antelope — and continue towards Serengeti National Park. Upon arrival, commence game viewing. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Tanzania Buschamps (F/B).

   Meals: breakfast, lunch & dinner.

5. 05

   Day 5: Serengeti National Park

   After breakfast, continue game viewing in the park (option: full-day game drive with packed lunch, or return to camp for hot lunch and proceed for an evening game drive). Tanzania's oldest and most iconic reserve, the Serengeti's 12,000-square-mile savannah is home to the highest concentration of large mammals on earth, including Africa's Big Five and around 500 bird species. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Tanzania Buschamps (F/B).

   Meals: breakfast, lunch & dinner.

6. 06

   Day 6: Ngorongoro Conservation Area

   After breakfast, continue game viewing in the park, then drive towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, arriving in time for hot lunch and check-in. The afternoon is spent at leisure. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Farm of Dreams (F/B).

   Meals: breakfast, lunch & dinner.

7. 07

   Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater

   Early breakfast, then with packed lunch drive towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend 2,000 ft below the crater floor for a full-day crater tour. Known as the 8th wonder of the world, the amphitheatre's grassland, swamp, lakes, river and woodland support a vast resident population of game including elephant, buffalo, monkeys, hippo, wildebeest, black rhino, hyena and lion. Ascend the crater floor and drive for dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Farm of Dreams (F/B).

8. 08

   Day 8: Zanzibar Island

   After breakfast, drive to Arusha town, arriving in time for hot lunch at Arusha Coffee Lodge. Post lunch, transfer to Arusha Airport for your domestic flight to Zanzibar Island. Upon arrival, meet and greet briefing by your English-speaking driver and transfer to the north coast of the island (Nungwi) for dinner and overnight at Amaan Beach Bungalows (H/B).

9. 09

   Day 9: Zanzibar Island

   Full day spent at leisure in the resort, with breakfast, dinner and overnight at Amaan Beach Bungalows (H/B).

10. 10

    Day 10: Zanzibar Island

    Full day spent at leisure in the resort, with breakfast, dinner and overnight at Amaan Beach Bungalows (H/B).

11. 11

    Day 11: Zanzibar Island

    Full day spent at leisure in the resort, with breakfast, dinner and overnight at Amaan Beach Bungalows (H/B).

12. 12

    Day 12: Zanzibar Island

    Full day spent at leisure in the resort, with breakfast, dinner and overnight at Amaan Beach Bungalows (H/B).

13. 13

    Day 13: Departure

    After breakfast, transfer to Zanzibar Airport for drop-off.
